The Carlton Mid Darwin Cup is without doubt the jewel in the crown for Territory racing. At just after 5pm on the first Monday in August, the winner and connections will be celebrated by the masses that have descended on the Darwin Turf Club.
Cup Day brings to a crescendo all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes readying the course and its combatants for their moment in the sun. The months of toil from a host of people will come to a close as the headline act of the Carnival plays out in a little over two minutes on the track.
The fabulous experience that is the Carlton Mid Darwin Cup Carnival will live long in the memory of all those present – some will be first timers and others die-hard enthusiasts who seldom, if ever, miss a Carnival in Darwin. It is the culmination of eight tremendous days of fantastic entertainment and competition as the Territory puts on its best face to the rest of Australia.
