2010 AFL Brisbane Lions Season

The Lions have taken a risky approach into 2010 after a pro-active trade period last season where they netted Brendan Fevola, Brent Staker, Andrew Raines and Matt Maguire, four seasoned players with plenty of baggage.

While the verdict was out on just how Fevola would team up with Jonathan Brown after the departure of Daniel Bradshaw, the combo have shined and become match-winners in the early part of 2010 to have the Lions soaring to perhaps another grand final appearance.

Maguire, too, has become an important figure for the Lions in defence as he attempts to resurrect his career after a serious leg injury.
“I think I can (get back to his best),” Maguire said.
“I felt when I was playing at my best at 21 I was still quite raw and could’ve done a few things better so I think my game has actually improved and I’m probably better now than what I was when I was 21 or 22.”

The football world finds coach Michael Voss’ recruiting tactics as aggressive as he used to play. He has put it all on the line for a flag whether it’s this year or next.
